Winery Info/ Brand
Brown Brothers is one of Australia's leading family-owned wine companies, with the family making wine in Victoria for over 120 years. Founded in 1889 by John Francis Brown, it was under the guidance of his son, John Charles Brown, that Brown Brothers established its reputation as a producer willing to experiment with innovative grape varieties. This experimentation and sense of adventure carries on the whole business and can be seen at the cellar doors from Milawa to Tasmania. As a key member of Australia's First Families of Wine, the third and fourth generations of the family keep the tradition alive with over 60 different wine available for tasting.
Region Info/ Origin
The Barossa Valley in South Australia is located 60 km northeast of the Adelaide city centre, which is a major producer of wine. It is the valley formed by the North Para River, and the Barossa Valley Way is the main road through the valley, connecting the main towns on the valley floor of Nuriootpa, Tanunda, Rowland Flat and Lyndoch. Barossa derives its name from the Barossa Ranges, which were named by Colonel William Light in 1837 in memory of the British victory over the French in the Battle of Barrosa, in which he fought in 1811. Today, Barossa Valley is considered an iconic winery in South Australia producing from a selection of grapes including Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Pinot Noir.
