Description/ Tasting Notes

Full-bodied, rich and opulently fruited in the mouth, this wine has beautiful red fruit sparks and sensuous kirsch, black cherry preserves rolling out of the glass. Chocolate box scents with touches of unsmoked cigars, dried mint, star anise and layers of boysenberry, raspberry and plum compote are seamless and incredibly long.

Winery Info/ Brand

Chateau La Fleur-Petrus is situated between Châteaux Lafleur and Petrus and got its name in the 18th century. Jean-Pierre Moueix, who established his wine merchant business in Libourne in 1937, purchased La Fleur-Pétrus in 1950. This historic estate on the plateau of Pomerol was his first vineyard acquisition. The vineyard is made up of three parcels on the plateau of Pomerol with altitudes averaging 33 to 38 meters above sea level and differing individual terroir that produces differing wine personality. Blended, these three singular terroirs with nuanced and complementary characteristics produce a generous, expressive wine with apparent structure and a dominance of black fruit. An attentive tasting reveals remarkable refinement, complexity, and a touch of violet

Region Info/ Origin

The Pomerol region is located at the northern border where viticulture was present in the area during the time of the Romans. Though it is uncertain as to the origins of the name "Pomerol", but it is speculated that the word was derived from the Latin word poma, which refers to a fruit bearing seeds and is the origin of the French word pomme, meaning apple. This theory is supported by the region's long history of polyculture with many other crops, particularly fruits and grains, being cultivated in the area long before viticulture became a primary focus.
