Description/ Tasting Notes

The complex aromatics are followed by a sweet attack, but some narrowing on the mid-palate and finish is apparent. Pure and elegant, it is ideal for near term drinking.Beautiful aromas of spices, berries and plums follow through to a medium- to full-bodied palate, with very fine tannins and a pretty, delicious finish. All in finesse.

Winery Info/ Brand

Chateau Rauzan Segla is one steeped in history that started all the way back to 1661. Family run by the Rauzans till 1866, before changing hands several times and ending with Wertheimer today. And with the change of hands, there were also changes to the Chateau, vineyards making it a modern winery of today that produces elegant wine of Margaux with class and long history to boast.

Region Info/ Origin

The Margaux appellation encompasses the village of Margaux and the neighbouring villages of Arsac, Labarde, Soussans and Cantenac. Being the most southerly of the Médoc's appellations, it has the thinnest soil in the region with the highest proportion of gravel that allows the soil to drain very well. The wine from this area are very susceptible to weather effects during the growing season. Encountering all seasons with adequate irrigation, relatively good rainfall and good amount of sunlight, the crop yields a bountiful harvest year-on-year. The winery takes pride and value that captures the essence that reflects their unique brand.
