Description/ Tasting Notes

Rich, chunky, coffee, mocha and berry fruit jump from the glass of this medium-bodied wine that shows excellent fruit intensity, soft tannins and a juicy, round, mouthfeel.

Winery Info/ Brand

This is the land that gives personality to a vintage and it was the work of Sylviane Garcin-Cathiards, she brings the wine to their full potential. After taking over the property in January 1997, with her experience at Château Haut-Bergey in Pessac-Léognan, she redesigned the winery. The soil is clay and gravel with lifts dirt iron, which gives the wine a special character, that is often found in Pomerol. Located on the hillside, most of the vineyard extends southwest of buildings, breaking the famous Pomerol plateau. Its area is 6 hectares. It is composed of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc.

Region Info/ Origin

The Chateau L 'Eglise estate is located in the heart of the Pomerol plateau just a few rows of vines away from Pomerol's famous church belfry. The vines are planted on the famed gunz terrace is recognised as one of the greatest wine-growing terroirs of the Bordeaux area. The soils are made up of large, round pebbles together with different clays over an iron-rich subsoil that gives Chateau L 'Eglise a distinctive character.
