Medium-bodied, the earth / savory palate has loads of lively black fruit with a refreshing line and firm, grainy tannins, finishing on a lingering ferrous note.

Les Fort de Latour is the second wine of the First Growth Château Latour and is made mainly of separate parcels of vines outside the Latour vineyard of L'Enclos. Although sometimes the same grapes used for the First Growth were included in the blend, these smaller plots of about 29-acre were acquired during the 19th century by the Ségur family and included Comtesse de Lalande and Petit Batailley.

Pauillac sprawls over the land size of about 8.8 square miles, is highly optimised for wine production and accounts for a rather disproportionate amount of fine, expensive wine in Bordeaux.
