About Saint-Emilion

Saint Emilion can be divided into three distinct terroirs: the limestone plateau, the slopes closest to the plateau, and the flats. The best terroir is located on the plateau, and soils here consist of limestone, clay, gravel, sand and iron. Wines of St Emilion’s clay and limestone soils are rich and deep, and display minerality characteristics in their flavour profile. The dominant grapes in St Emilion wine are Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The Merlot offers lush, soft textures with flavours of plums, black fruits and licorice, while Cabernet Franc offers tannin and structure, and aromatic characteristics like flowers and spice.
