About Burgundy

Located in the East-Central of France, Burgundy has 5 wine growing areas, including Chablis and Cote de Nuits. This wine region belonged to a tropical sea millions of years ago. Burgundy’s vineyards rest on limestone soils created from marine deposits, which gives the wine its trademark zesty minerality. Two dominant grape varieties are grown in Burgundy: Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. In Chablis, Chardonnay grapes have been planted since the 12th century. Its Kemmeridgian limestone soil and harsh winters give Chardonnay a purity and crispness that is the characteristic of Chablis.Cotes de Nuits has 24 Grand Cru vineyards, and wines produced here are 80% Pinot Noir. The best wines are concentrated and long-lived, and offer signature Burgundy notes of black currant, fresh red fruits, cherry, spice and mushroom.
