About Languedoc

The Languedoc-Roussillon wine region of France spans the Mediterranean coastline from the French border with Spain to Provence. Languedoc’s soil type varies from chalky, limestone and gravel soils inland, to more alluvial soils near the coast. Some of the best vineyards are situated above the stones of an ancient riverbed. Languedoc is gaining attention for its wine of great value, and instead of single varietal wines, most producers create blends. In red blends, Syrah, Grenache, Carignan and Mourvedre are dominant, creating a full-bodied and fruit driven wine. White blends are typically unoaked and zesty, and are produced from Picpoul and Grenache blanc.
