Winery Info/ Brand

Terrazas de los Andes was founded in 1999, in the heart of Mendoza. It is a renowned winemaking region in the west of Argentina on an estate where the first ungrafted vines were planted in 1929. Terrazas de los Andes took its name from the "terrazas", a series of terraced plateaus at the foot of the Andes mountain range, scattered over altitudes ranging from 600 to 1,500 metres. On these terraces, each of the grape varieties – Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Torrentés and Chardonnay – are planted at optimum altitudes to benefit from ideal ripening conditions. Terrazas de la Andes produces four distinctive yet complementary wine: Altos del Plata, Reserva, Single Vineyard and Cheval des Andes.

Region Info/ Origin

Mendoza, in Argentina's Cuyo region, is the capital of Mendoza Province and the heart of Argentina's wine country. Its many bodegas (wineries) are famous for tastings and tours. Mendoza Climate, in general, is moderately cold during winters, with sunny days and lows regularly below freezing temperature. Rainfall is scarce and not enough to support vines, but heavy winter snowfall on the Andes mountains provides snowmelt water for irrigation. The soils of the different winemaking regions originated from the erosion and decomposition of the Andean rocks and minerals in the Quaternary period. Mendoza's vines are famed for Malbecs and other bold reds.
